HBC EPWP Programmes

The progamme specifically deals with caring for the elderly people at their respective homes. Our care givers identifies clients/beneficiaries or asses them according to the criteria needed then we capture them in our system /organization,We are operating five days of the week the care workers go out to their homes where they render the following services to their clients, bed bath, massage, wound care, cooking, cleaning not compulsory where there is a need for that. And accompanying them to the clinics for their routine checkups to avoid/prevent defaulting their treatment

Every month we gather at our premises where we do awareness’s regarding the abuse of the Elderly people and the prevention thereof. We also work closely with the social Workers in terms of referrals to relevant institutions.

The programme specializes with children who are orphans and vulnerable because some of them their parents were our clients who passed on because of the scourge of HIV/AIDS that is how we identified some of our beneficiaries. We also have children who are child headed who lost both parents and have no one to take care for them. In order to identify these children, our care givers carry out door to door campaigns and passive communication with nearest schools.

Upon identifying them, they bring their lunch boxes and collect their early supper in our soup kitchen in order for them not to go to bed on an empty stomachs. We are cooking for them from Monday to Friday except weekends due to limited resources.

Our wish as an organization was to provide for children breakfast and early supper. During weekends, we wish to provide them with food parcels so that they can get something to eat. Our caregivers are doing basic counselling to them and the family and we refer where it necessary to the relevant institution. Or services caters for children ranging from age 2years to 18 years.

This programme is part of the national strategy in the national Department of health Strategic plan to help eradicate the world epidemic of HIV/AIDS. The HCT programme was introduced into our organization in 2016 by the Department of Health which aims to assist South Africans with the services such as HIV counselling and testing, TB Screening, MMC (Medical Male Circumcision) Referrals, STIs Screening, and Condom Distribution, Condom demonstration, Sexuality including the LGBTI community, Sugar diabetes screening and Hypertension screening.
